Meet The Artist: David Vincent Yancey
With a long creative professional background in photography, mixed-media art and a graphic design business owner, David never thought much about stained glass, at least as a profession. Then, as fate would have it, in 2001 a neighbor commissioned him to rebuild a dilapidated stained glass panel. Though intrigued by the challenge and attracted to the beautiful colorful glass, David had no experience in stained glass art, so he signed up for a class at a local stained glass studio in Austin and immediately fell in love with the process, materials and art form.
Soon after completing the class & the repair commission, David quit his graphic designer job and was hired at the same glass studio that he took the class from. 6 months later he became manager of the studio, two years later he started his own business, Texas Colors Stained Glass Studio, and now over 20 years later, David is still creating and restoring beautiful pieces of glass art for his clients.
